Balti cooking is the latest trend in Indian cuisine, very popular in the Midlands. This new style of cuisine and presentation has many imitators in the north, but few quality practitioners of the art.
At the Indian Spice, we are pleased to announce Balti cooking originated centuries ago in the Himalayan mountain region of Pakistani Kashmir, in a province known as Baltistan. The cold, high attitude atmosphere there demanded simple but effective cooking methods
Balti dishes are freshly prepared and healthy because the rapid stir-fry process retains the goodness of the food. The whole spices are roasted and ground in our kitchen to create the aromatic, spice textures. These spices combined with the use of fresh herbs like coriander, fenugreek and mint give Balti its distinctive taste.
The Indian Spice range of Balti dishes allow the diner to experiment widely by combining ingredients to your own choice. For example you can order a Balti chicken, or have a Balti chicken with garlic. The combinations are endless and the choice is yours, but we recommend that you should try this dish with naan bread or chapatis.
